I have to do a big, semester long project of doing a mock designation of a building or structure (50 years or older). I was just looking for some suggestions that maybe I haven't thought of. They can't already be on the National Register of Historic Places. I originally wanted to do the Hope Memorial Bridge because the Guardians of Traffic are one of my favorite things in Cleveland. Thanks

My favorite building in Cleveland architecture wise is the Arcade. It was financed by John D. Rockefeller and is considered one of the earliest and finest shopping center models in the world. Cleveland has tons and tons of great historical sites including the Hope Bridge.

Edit: I typed a detailed response but didn't take note of the fact they couldn't already be on the NHR. My apologies. I honestly will have to do some digging on a list . The Hope Bridge is about as famous as it gets then without a designation. Is the original house that Jesse Owens lived in still standing? I can't confirm. But that might be worth doing.

Good luck! As hard and tedious as some of the source finding for that may be, it really does sound fun. Sometimes I wish I had majored in history LOL.

I noticed that Public Square is on the national register, but not the Soldiers and Sailors Monument.

National Register of Historic Places listings in Cleveland, Ohio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The U.S.S. Cod is listed, but not the Steamship Mather. The Mather is perhaps the most historic Great Lakes freighter museum ship. It already is an ASME mechanical engineering landmark, and it should easily qualify for the National Register of Historic Places.

What about Edgewater Park, or even the entire Cleveland Metroparks system?

Please keep us informed of your project.
