Two years ago, I came up with a post on how do out-of-towners react to Cleveland when they visit in other cities. I received a lot of responses from Clevelanders and former Clevelanders about their experiences, which were interesting. Cleveland was going at the beginning of its transformation, and it's still in the middle of is transformation. I know some of you have travel a little bit since I wrote the first post. How do you residents in the cities you've visited react when you tell they that you're from Cleveland? Do they make fun still or give you a funny look? Do they actual show Cleveland love or is it doesn't make a difference to them?

When I mention I lived in Cleveland, most folks mention its failures in pro sports and mainly the Johnny Manzel drama and the futile Browns. Recently the Cavs coach firing is topic and the occasional burning river. Can't say the tone of discussion is much different than it was ten years ago.

In the past ten years, it's gone from "You must love LeBron, huh?" to "You must hate LeBron, huh?" to "You must love LeBron, huh?"

I'm with burritoKURUMA. They ALWAYS bring up LeBron. "So what do you think about LeBron haha. You think you guys have a shot at winning it all this year?"

My wife and I moved here from San Diego two years ago and the response then, and now, is "Why?". No one understands why you would leave San Diego for snow, cloudiness, cold, smaller city, no mexican food (I still believe that's true with VERY few exceptions), the beach, ocean, more economically starved, etc. And honestly, it's all true but there are good things here like the metro parks, variety in seasons so you appreciate each one more, and lower cost of living.

Mortey- Mexican food! I know! I have tried more than a few on visits and just can't find it. I told my wife, "Why don't we just open a taco stand?"

Maybe it's the geography because the ingredients do not seem the same. I ordered a burrito to go while in Sandusky and it was a cheese enchilada. I had to explain that this was not a burrito, but they argued. I even took a pic and showed it to the owner of my favorite place here and he was like, "What the heck is that?" lol

Some places are now fancy taco joints, but can't find a true Mexican place. Let me know if and when you find one.

I hear the same thing from Californians in Boston, like every single day. I feel that Californians are about their Mexican food (mostly just cheese, beans, rice, some veggies, meat and spices) the way New Yorkers are about pizza (it's pizza- cheese, crust, sauce, some meat and veggies if you want- boom).

I say Cleveland starts commenting about the lack of good Polish food in most other US cities.

Guess I better get used to that, I'm moving from San Diego in a couple months. I more or less expect that, I've done lots of moves so I know how people react when moving from a 'desirable' area to a 'less desirable' area, at least on the surface. Californians are certainly obsessed with Mexican Food, luckily enough, I'm not a fan so I'm not too concerned about the lack of authentic stuff in other regions. I'm happy that the market share of restaurants will be other food!

Makes for fun discussion!

Momocho, which features "Mod Mex," probably is the most highly regarded Mexican restaurant in Greater Cleveland.

Orale is another option. It has a stand in the West Side Market and a restaurant on W. 25th St.

Both are on the Plain Dealer A-list of 100 best Greater Cleveland restaurants.

La Taqueria may be an option on the east side. See the 1/19/16 review by B.D. here:

A friend of mine is a former Clevelander now living in San Diego. He constantly complains about the lack of seasons there -- says the weather is "boring" -- and when I post pics of snow on Facebook, he writes wistful comments. When they were having a ton of rain there a few months back, he was actually overjoyed!
