We're moving to Cleveland this summer, mostly likely to one of the Heights/Beachwood. We'll be in town next week to explore and visit daycares, and I'm wondering if anyone has recs for a good driving route to hit most of the neighborhoods. We just want to check them out, see the typical house sizes, places to eat, etc.

Start by University Circle. Say, Euclid Ave and Cornell.

Take Cornell to Edgehill. Continue onto Overlook. Follow Overlook to Kenilworth (slight left). Merge onto Mayfield. Then turn right on Coventry after 2 blocks. Take Coventry to Cedar, turn left on Cedar and go to Lee. Take Lee to Superior, turn right onto Superior. Take Superior to Taylor and turn right onto Taylor. Take Taylor to Fairmount. Turn right onto Fairmount all the way back to Cedar and then continue onto Cedar. Then you are basically back where you started and have seen all the notable parts of Cleveland heights.

Here are a couple threads to read. I'll be back with some driving route suggestions after you provide some additional information. How many hours/days do you have to explore? Do you want to stop and see some things or just do a short drive through the area?

See especially post 3 here.

Are you interested in seeing high schools, libraries, etc.?

Will you have a car or are you flying in and renting one? Where are you planning to stay during your trip?

If you are AAA members, get a copy of the Northeast Ohio and Cleveland maps. The former has a great map of downtown and University Circle on the back.

See if you can get a tour at Hathaway Brown. Their infant/pre-school program is co-ed and highly regarded.

How did you arrive at this conclusion? Knowing that will help us tell if you're on the right track or not, and also help narrow down which city/neighborhood might suit you best.

Will you be renting or buying? What's your budget?

You'll love the Beachwood branch of the Cuyahoga County library. I'd also do a few hours of shopping/eating at Legacy Village

Re: day care.

Check out the Cleveland Music Settlement. See post 8 here.

For dining, read about "Little Italy and University Circle," and "Shaker Square" in this dated travel article. If coming from the airport, consider stopping at the West Side Market (check out "Market District and Ohio City" in the dining article). Nearby the WSM are Nate's Deli, the Great Lakes Brew Pub, Townhall, and Mitchell's Ice Cream, all Cleveland favorites.

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g....Overview.html

Note that there is a Red Line rail rapid station across the street from the West Side Market. This is significant because the Red Line also has a station in Cleveland Hopkins Airport next to luggage pick-up, and in Little Italy. The Green and Blue rail rapid lines that run through Cleveland Hts. and Shaker Hts. connect to the Red Line at the rail transit hub in Tower City downtown. Tower City has a pedestrian walkway to Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field. You likely can get a cheaper rental car downtown as there would be no airport fees, but check rental car office hours. Rental car companies such as Enterprise will pick up and deliver customers, such as to and from Tower City.

Also, check out Yelp and TripAdvisor restaurant ratings for Cleveland Heights, Shaker Hts., and Beachwood. Cleveland Hts. has some popular Ohio chains, such as Melt Bar & Grilled and Dewey's Pizza.

Consider subscribing to Cleveland Magazine. It offers a popular "Rating the Suburbs" issue that isn't available online. The February 2018 edition has an excellent one-page article on the Larchmere District located near Shaker Square.
