With all the new development of residential, restaurants, and entertainment all in the last 2-3 years, I figured this area warranted it's own thread.

First bit of good news:

Bang and Clatter Theater Company opens tomorrow, April 18!

Crain's Cleveland Business: New theater to debut in Cleveland

One year later...and we have had even more growth in that area. Here's what has opened up in the past year:

La Strada
Erie Island Coffee Co
Cadallac Ranch
Greenhouse Tavern (w/ rooftop!)

Residentally, we've seen:

Euclid Block Apartments East Fourth Neighborhood - Cleveland, OH
668 Euclid Ave opening in Aug/Sept www.668euclidave.com/

I had a friend who just went to Greenhouse Tavern rooftop this Thursday for Sparx in the City and said it was amazing up there.

Anyone else best to the rooftop yet? I really don't know when they opened the top portion up.

I really like this part of the city. I had never been there before, and I found myself going there on Saturday evenings with friends, and it is always packed with people, great restaurants, great food, great music, good times.

Agreed.

They have free music on the streets every Thursday night too during the summer: Sparx (http://www.cleveland.com/sparx/index4_concert.ssf - broken link)

Last time I was in town, I had Erie Island Coffee Co. Very good coffee and a cool little coffee shop.

Corner Alley had the best steaks I've had in some 5 years. I was literally awe shocked. I expected pretty decent food for the price, but they really surprised me.

I love that area as well. If Cleveland created more areas like this, the downtown area would drastically chance.

I really had hoped that The Flats were transitioned into an area like E.4th.

I think what makes the area so successful, besides the restaurants/attractions, is the residential component. The old flats were pretty much a 5pm-3am crowd…other than that, it was almost completely empty. With the inclusion of a neighborhood, it gives foot traffic almost 24/7, and creates a “home” pride where people care more about the area. Lastly, Mr. Maron has done the best redevelopment of an area of the city that we’ve seen in years. He’s had a plan and stuck to it.
