Ex-Clevelander here.

I was trying to explain to a friend about the shoreline on Lake Erie, and how it "rises" from downtown Cleveland on both directions. My dad once had a cottage in Bay Village and we would take the rickety iron stairs down to the minuscule beach and thought nothing of it. The stairs are not there now I'm sure! (This is 50+ years ago!)

I also know someone in Willowick/Eastlake area and would like to show her pix of his "backyard" which is the lake. I could swear I once found online some aerial photography of the area but I could find nothing in a half-hour web hunt today. I think the bluff area there is at least 20 feet high or so but haven't been there in a decade so am not really sure. Also I'm bad at distance .

Any ideas appreciated! Thanks!

These reportedly are taken from the Lake Metroparks Lakefront Lodge at the top of Vine St. Some of the photos provide a perspective on the bluff there.

Lakefront Lodge in Willowick - Lake Erie Park Views | Lake Metroparks

Actually, Cleveland sits far above Lake Erie, as well known by anybody who has walked up East 9th St. from Voinovich Bicentennial Park.

The low land on which First Energy Stadium, the Rock Hall, Burke Lakefront Airport, I-90, etc., are built is all landfill.

I don't think the bluffs above Lake Erie disappear until about Lorain.

Thanks much! Not exactly what I am still hoping to find -- I want a view FROM the lake or airplane looking AT the bluffs -- I will keep looking. I did not know that about the airport being landfill.

No, I was asking what city your currently live in? I was trying to get more context about what your friend was saying. Maybe he's comparing y'all city to Cleveland.
