Hi,

I was wondering if all or the majority of homes in Cleveland are heated by gas heat. I've looked at homes for sale and so far, that seems to be the case.

Was also wondering if someone could give me an estimate of what their heating and electric costs are in the winter. I'm really trying to decide whether or not to move there and just looking at everything.

Thank you for any and all responses!

My all-electric small well-insulated house (936 sq. ft) cost $2100 for electricity the past year. Gas is cheaper than electricity here. I would not recommend a heat pump, as this is a cold climate and the heat pump will spend much of the winter using the backup electric resistance heat.

Wow, that seems high for a 936 sq ft home that is well insulated. Thank you for your help!

I have a 1750 square foot home build in the 1890s (read - not energy efficient.) It has gas-powered hot water radiant heat. My highest gas bill this past winter was $201. My electric bills are generally low in the winter and higher in the summer.

Gas for heat, electric for AC. This area has very cheap gas and electricity prices compared to other parts of the country.
