Cleveland.com offers a description of this year's "Deck the Hall" event at Stan Hywet Hall in Akron. Note that the exhibits are as interesting as the lights are beautiful.

This year exhibits will focus on holiday movies and the "The Nutcracker" ballet.

Default Nutcracker returns to Playhouse Square

Interestingly, this is a performance by the Cleveland Ballet.

Default Mr. Jingeling returns

Grandparents may be rejoicing about the return of Mr. Jingeling to Cleveland, hoping to share their childhood experiences with their grandchildren, but I doubt many parents remember the once popular elf.

Personally, I never cared about Mr. Jingeling. In the days before Toys 'R Us, big box retailers such as Wal-Mart, Amazon or other online toy vendors, or even suburban malls, the real attraction was Halle's floor of toys! My parents cleverly never took me there until the toys were almost sold out, greatly reducing my opinion of the Halle's and Mr. Jingeling experience. The Sears toy catalog was my substitute, and I doubt it carried the exotic, high-priced toys featured at Halle's.
