Lola Bistro is probably the most "famous" downtown hot spot. It is unlikely you would have a bad meal there. Crop should be good too. I am not so sure about some of the others mentioned-hit or miss-except the Winking Lizard, but that is kind of typical pub food (though done well).

We actually decided to be impromptu and walk around a bit. We ended up at The Cleveland Chophouse and Brewery. Very good place
Another night, we ate by our hotel in Indepence which is just south of Cleveland at the Thai Gourmet. Both nights were excellent!
