The old Sohio low-temperature warnings back in the bone-chilling winters of the 70's with the familiar slogan 'You go or Sohio pays the tow'.

School kids liked to hear these commercials because there was a good chance they would get a day off from school as a result of the cold weather.

Here's a clean audio clip of the peculiar space invaders type of sound effect that the Sohio commercials used. Perhaps it was done on a Mini-Moog?

In addition to Stop and Shop, there was A&P. I think there was one in East Cleveland. Most in the Cleveland area were gone by the mid 70s. Correct me if I'm wrong. A&P were popular in the Detroit area.

It was once rumored in the 70s that 'Stop and Shop' and 'A&P' were combining stores. The new name was rumored to be 'Stop and P'.
