This thread is for the posting and discussion of homicides/crimes in Cleveland, Greater Cleveland, and Northeast Ohio.

I haven't been on here much lately but I figured we should make it to keep all of them and the discussions in the same place. I don't know where Clevelands homicide count is as of now (3/16/2010) but I believe it's around 10-15, down from 25-30 by this time last year which is good news.

Default Elyria homicides

Last night there was a large shootout in Elyria in the Southside neighborhood, 18th street and west ave. A police officer was killed and the suspect was killed shortly after. R.I.P.

And I thought we had finally given up on the notion that we should post a crime thread....

I'm at Case Western and we routinely get security alerts. The latest one was kind of generic in that there were several recent incidents of burglary in off-campus residences near the university. Then some safety tips.

Thumbs down Solon Ohio

SOLON -- One teenage girl says she was raped in the family restroom at the Solon Public Library. Another says she had sex with a boy at the Solon Community Center because he wouldn't stop "texting" her, asking for sex.
Another girl says she had sex with two boys outside in the parking lot during a wrestling tournament at Solon High School, but refused two other boys and texted her friends inside, asking them to call her so she could leave the group.
All three recent incidents are under investigation by the Solon Police department and the juvenile court.

What is there to "discuss" about homicides, exactly?

When did this happen?

I was gone and haven't been active for most of the last 5 months.

The last 3 yearly crime threads have made 100s of replies each so obviously people are discussing something.

If there's a really good reason why we shouldn't have a crime thread then I'll consider it and we can let this thread die or ask a moderator to lock it. There's nothing that we on a online forum can do to make Cleveland and Northeast Ohio look any worse than it is and is made out to be. Check Cleveland.com or any of the news sites and there's constantly murders and major crimes occuring. Check Forbes/other city ranking sites and they're constantly calling Cleveland and other Northeast Ohio cities the worst of the worst at just about everything. Also there's already several crime incidents made into threads this year so we might as well keep them all in one place and discuss them.

Don't come in the thread if you are going to stir things up.

I personally like to be informed and discuss the crime that is happening in MY neighborhood. Considering there isn't too much crime in Lakewood, take the higher road and be proud and leave this thread.

Then go to crimereports.com and look at the crime map for the city of Cleveland, if that's where you live. Everything's on there.

Or have this thread. I don't care. I'm just pointing out that it's a little OCD-weird and redundant to have a thread of every single violent crime that makes the newspaper for every year.
