We want to bring our boat to Beaufort and try to learn to flounder gig
around carrot island.

Is there a camping area nearby that you could leave you boat
docked at. Putting the boat in by myself is going to be a huge challenge so
if I could leave it in the water a few days it would be a big help

Though it isn't Beaufort, I have heard White Oak Shores is a full service campground with docks, but I don't know about a ramp. It is on the White Oak River which is near Swansboro, and I know that people flounder gig up in that area. The water is mostly 4 ft or less in the area with a few deeper pockets. The lower White Oak has a well marked channel because of oyster rocks but up near the camp ground there are very few obstructions. Depending on your boat, it is about 15 minutes or so to the ICW.

There is a ramp in Stella if there isn't one in the camp ground.

There is a ramp in White Oak Shores and they have a pier/dock. I'd give them a call to ask about using the dock during your stay, but I'd think that they'd be OK with it b/c I've never seen it too crowded. We've always found it to be a really nice campground.

There's also public boat access ramps not too far from the campground too, just as an FYI.
