FYI: The town you are going to name isn't like the Toyota car. This will help you when it comes to needing other things

Best thing to do is to go to Expedia.com and type in your beginning and destination points. This will produce the best directions I've ever used to get from Havertown, PA to The Outer Banks. You'll travel 95 for just a bit in Delaware and then head down Route 1 in Delaware. Eventually you'll go over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel which is a magnificent experience. The total ride only takes about 6 or 7 hours and is easily do able in a day. My suggestion is to leave very early in the morning. We always try to get out around 5am. There is much less traffic traveling down on the weekends than on the weekdays. It's not a bad drive at all.

Depending on when you're check-in date is, you could drive down early, and miss the normal arrival traffic. Then stay at a hotel for a night. It doesn't have to be on the coast. It could be inland and save some money.
