Hey,
I'm back with another town to ask you guys about. I checked out the Bath area, and found that you were right. That area is way to far out of the civilization zone for my wife. I am now going to take the trip and check out “Holden Beach” area. Can anyone give me some insight in this town. People, crime, taxes, and all round living conditions. Any area we should steer clear of? Any help would be great.
Thanks for your input.

Barrier Island, almost exclusively residential and heavily populated with tourists during the spring and summer and a very low population in the winter. The mainland side is a bit "country" but with a more stable year-around population of a few thousand people. There is one strip of commercial touristy type restaurants and attractions along the main road to the island.

Holden Beach is a beautiful, clean, family oriented beach. Know hi-rises. No neon. I especially love the West End because it is private… Like having your own island. We have gone there for years.

Check out Winding River Plantation. They have a beautiful beach house on Holden Beach.
We have a building lot there that we need to sell. It is not with a realtor at this time. If interested

Be sure to check the price of homeowners insurance in the areas you are considering. I think you will find the insurance to be more than your property taxes.

Which is crap. Because the beach is public.

The beach is public, but it is also very quiet. I lived in WRP for a year, they have a beach house there. I spent the summer on the beach, the hottest days, still not crowded at all. We could hear the fish jumping, heaven on earth

Is the water at Holden Beach similar to the water at Carolina or Wrightsville Beach? I visited there in August and found the water murky and not a pretty color.
Thanks
