Day trip to Bald head Island (rent, purchase, ferry)

Planning for a day trip to Bald head Island for the memorial day weekend. How is the parking and other amenities ? Have anyone been to this place on a long weekend and what was the experience ?

Bald Head Island is beautiful. When you call to make your ferry reservation, they will direct you to one of their "lettered" parking lots to leave your car while you are on the island. It's a short walk from the lots to the ferry terminal.

How do you plan to get around the island? I've only ever gone for a weekend and had a golf cart available with my accommodations. I believe you can rent them for the day as well.

I think you can, per the ferry info at Bald Head Island NC | Ferry Information:

"If you have larger items such as bikes or kayaks, you will need to purchase an Excess Baggage ticket for each item"

You don't need a ferry reservation and parking is not an issue but you will have to pay to park. Getting your bikes on the ferry won't be an issue either. You can see the whole island by bike in a few hours so a day trip is probably all you need. Just make sure you get to the ferry terminal 10 minutes before the ferry leaves. Other than that you won't have any issues.
