we are spending Dec. thru March in the carolina beach area. our first trip down, in the summer, we didn't find much in the way of casual dining, at least nothing to write home about. other than going to Willmington can anyone suggest local eateries this retired blue collar would enjoy? wondering where to go in the off-season.

What kind of food are you looking for? For seafood I really like Cape Fear Seafood in Monkey Junction. For Chinese I like Double Happiness on Wrightsville Ave. Flaming Amy's bowl on South College is good too.

thanks for reply. we're not fussy eaters, just trying to avoid greasy spoons. wife and I love pot stickers, glad there is Chinese near by. we tried Michael's and thought that was great place. we'll be eating lots of seafood, to be sure. now if we could just find some good 'ole southern barbecue! we also tried river-side resturant across from battleship and had the tastiest shrimp hoagie ever. forget the name, had outside seating.

Well Double Happiness has the best dumplings I've had. Simple and delicious.
