Checking in from FL - have ties to Emerald Isle. Wondering how it fared during Irene. Been praying for all of you. Be safe

It appears that most of the pier at Bogue Inlet is gone. What a shame. There is flooding both on the Island and on the mainland up in Swansboro. Lots of trees down and will be a lot of clean up.

Hate to hear that. Love that pier! Hopefully our place survived.

Pier in Atlantic Beach also had major damage. Mike, owner of Bogue Inlet Pier, posted this morning that he plans to rebuild. Good people and great place to be.

Our place in Swansboro did really well. We only had one tree go down and one piece of siding come off. It all depends on the wind direction. Neighbors a few houses up had half of the siding on one side come of. Our next door neighbor lost a couple of big oaks, that luckily didn't hit anything else. Downtown flooded and didn't get power back until today, unfortunately. It's more the lost business that really hurts the coastal towns when there is a hurricane. That's essentially 4 days for Swansboro and the island and much more for the OBX.
