as far as nicer establishments go, i would recommend osteria cicchetti. they have northern italian food that is very good. Terrazzo trattoria is down the road, which is also nice, and is your typical italian food. honorable mention, would be fat tony's, carrabba's, and the olive garden.
'a taste of italy' has good italian food, but is very casual. same with Elizabeth's Pizza.
NY pasta house is good. I've only been once but the food was tasty. I just read that they've expanded and are going to open another restaurant where the old Taco Bell was on Wrightsville Ave.
My pick is in Leland, but on 17S and 20 min from my home in Wilmington - Tony's Pizza and Trattoria - absolutely amazing. It's southern Italian. They used to own I Love NY Pizza downtown.
