Great area. Close enough to Myrtle Beach if you want go, (shopping, restaurants entertainment , etc.) yet far enough away to not be bothered with the tourists.

Some of the best beaches on the east coast close by.

Shallotte is a great area. It is close to Wilmington and MB, but is a world away from both. Beaches are close and easy to get to. Real Estate prices are good with lots of choices in almost every price range. Downtown Shallotte has a wide variety of stores and most of the larger stores including Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart. You may also want to look at the neighboring towns, Clabash, Carolina Shores, Ocean Isle, Sunset Beach and Supply. I find this area easier to get to than most of the shore areas south and east of Wilmington. Much more relaxed area but has everything close by.
