I'm plotting to drag my BF to the beach this weekend. He is afraid of the sun so I've guaranteed a lunch break at a shady fun restaurant that has gluten free options. Anything near the beach that you can recommend?

Well, Google turned up this blog: Gluten Free Wilmington

The places were not necessarily close to the beach. Does the whole place have to be gluten-free, or would a few menu options be sufficient?

Oh, my, just gluten friendly...not the entire menu. I'm guessing that typical beach food might not work. I suppose we could take a picnic and just go for ice cream....

Would a Chinese place work? Or takeout from a supermarket salad bar?

Not too near the beach, but the coolest restaurant ever is Indochine...they have Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese options...a lunch menu that also lets you order from the dinner menu--and PLEASE check out their meditation garden in the back--if the weather's nice, you can dine out there--it's so very pretty..even a koi pond.

Lots of veggie options with no gluten...

Cameo 1900 on the way to Wrightsville has a bunch of gluten-free entrees.

We read about Epic Food Co! on the Gluten Free Wilmington board and decided to stop there after a day at the beach. We had a great experience. Location was convenient. We all enjoyed the food. Prices were reasonable and service was great. Our daughter with Celiac Disease felt fine after eating there and was thrilled to be able to dine out without fear of cross-contamination.
