Hi,
I'm moving to Wilmington in one week.
While visiting a month ago, my friend and I went to have a manicure & pedicure. I nearly fainted when it came time to pay. It was $40!!!
I need recommendations for affordable personal services
Manicure and Pedicure
Hair salon
Cleaners
Car Wash
etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there's not too many reasonable things in Wilmington. Cost of living is VERY high!
The biggest surprise for me is that there are no discount dry cleaners. I pay at least $6.00 per garment, where I was used to $1.98 discounters in Maryland.
I doubt that surrounding towns are cheaper. The surrounding areas I know are beach towns like Surf City. The salons make a lot of money in the summer doing waxing, tanning, nail polish, and hair lightening for tourists who want to look good. In the winter there's less business from locals. It's the lack of competition, I think, which keeps prices higher than you are familiar with. (Also, maybe, fewer immigrant ladies who work cheap.)
I finally saw a discount dry cleaner today. The are Three Dollar Chrystal Cleaners at 7336 Market Street, Wilmington. However, when I looked them up online, they got one negative review, saying they didn't clean the items. So I can only suggest trying them at your own risk.
