We currently live in Asheville NC but we want to move to the coast. We both work for a company that has a facility located in Elizabeth City so we could transfer our jobs but I don't know much about the area. Can anyone tell me about the culture there, weather, crime rate, accessibility to the Outer Banks? Any information would be much appreciated Thanks!

Do a search on Elizabeth City, as there are many Coast Guard families that get transferred there, and there is a lot of information here: https://www.city-data.com/forum/coast...h-city-nc.html

Many work in EC but live in Currituck or Camden County.

Thank you for the advice...after doing some more research I don't think the Elizabeth City area is for us...I think we will look further south closer to Wilmington

Elizabeth City would not be my first choice but if you live out around Kitty Hawk you could commute, it is something like a 30 min drive up to EC and Currituck County up to Kitty Hawk(Dare Co. is really nice. The Sweeping Radish is a great German Restaurant and brew house. Other areas I would suggest, Morehead City/BEaufort area,,,great community growing things to do there,,,,,Swansboro is a great small town and of course Wilmington area. Of all of the I would rate Beaufort MHC has my favorite then Wilmington...good luck with it all shoot me an email if you have specifis
