We have had a lot of noise on our CenturyLink land-line phone service here in Mimosa Bay. My husband just installed a Vonage box, and we are testing both lines for a month. So far, Vonage is winning the contest. The sound is much cleaner and clearer, and the cost will be cheaper. The biggest problem has been notifying everyone that we changed the phone number, as Vonage can't let you keep the same number.

We are also getting rid of CenturyLink's DSL service for Internet, now that Time-Warner Cable has finally wired our neighborhood. TWC is significantly faster.

Anyone else want to compare their experiences?

I tried to go without a land line, but one of us doesn't understand that you have to have your cell, in the house, for this to work.

We are going with Sudden Link (our only option as provider of cable) landline this afternoon. I just could not take not being able to call home anymore.

Don't loose your cell phones. If the cable goes down, so does your phone.

If you positively must have a phone, under all conditions, then Century Link is your only option.

We are keeping our cell phones for sure, but twice in several days I was able to get hold of "the wife" on the land line when her cell was in her car.
