I promised yesterday that I would try to provide some shots of Swansboro's Mullet Festival. There were at least three streets that I did not get to photograph so there were lots more booths.

There were also some rides for the kids but I didn't get to see them.

Our booth was right behind the beach music which I enjoyed a lot when I wasn't trying to have a conversation.

The weather could not have been better. They ran out of mullet before I could get a sample,

So I went by Clyde Phillips Seafood and got some fresh shrimp and went home and fixed them for dinner. They were probably better than the mullet anyway.

There are more shots at this web album.

This is shot that I took while kayaking tonight.

I'm from Swansboro, live in Norwood now up close to Charlotte.
Clyde Phillips was my uncle, of course the family still runs the business.

Is there anything of substance at this festival or is it all greasy food and cheap souviners?

There are fine artists that have booths. There are photography, wood crafts, paintings, jewelry and fiber arts. It's not a bunch of nothing, although there is some of that. Also, some direct sales consultants have booths.

Boy...all those crafts...photography...painting...jewelry and fiber arts booths are disguised as food and junk booths in sabootta's gallery.
