All of the talk of concealing your adult beverage reminded me of this from The Wire:

The WBPD has cameras on some of their cars to scan your license plate for any records. I think they're installing one on the Drawbridge too if they haven't already. If there are any, they go after you.

And the WBPD have a bit of a reputation for being like that. They act like they own the beach, and will cite you for drinking, even if you're minding your own business. They also have the Wrightsville Beach "ambassadors," who are not true ambassadors. They wear an ambassador shirt, and walk on the beach like a regular person, when in all reality they are looking for alcohol, or anything else that could remotely get you in trouble with WBPD. When they find something, they radio in the police, who will proceed to ruin your time there. Most WBPD officers I see act like they have "little man's disease," as in they think they're all that because they carry a gun and badge. They seem to enjoy harassing anyone they can, and citing anyone they can find for any reason they can find.

I have to say, I love Wrightsville Beach, but the WBPD is the main con of it, and I start to like it less and less the worse they get.
