Traveling to the Outer Banks in June - Motorhome question (Ocracoke: camping, live)

I have read through a lot of great posts here. We are planning a short stay on the Outer Banks this June, probably during the middle of the month. We are planing on going from north to south and will be camping. My main concern is getting around the islands in a 30ft Class C motorhome. I know we can camp several places - but, any recommendations? But, how difficult will it be to get around? How about the ferries? I would like to spend 2-3 days and not backtrack...if possible. Thanks for any advice.

The ferry website says that RV's and any other vehicle legal on the road can be accommodated. That's ferry.ncdot.com and see the FAQs. However, you should make reservations, and be prepared to wait in line. Also, the roads can be overwashed by the ocean in places, but I'm not sure of current conditions.

There's plenty of people who live here who have RVs, so you can definitely get around just fine apart from McDonald's drive-throughs and such. I guess the Brew Thru is probably off-limits too All the NPS run campgrounds (Oregon Inlet, Cape Point, Ocracoke, Frisco) can accomodate RVs, though you have to reserve a spot at Ocracoke half a year in advance.

If you're traveling further south past the Outer Banks you'll need to take either the Ocracoke-Swan Quarter or the Ocracoke-Cedar Island ferry, which you'll need to reserve a spot for.
