Hi-
We are considering a move to N.C.(.my husband is originally from Western N.C)...problem is my son was accepted into a technical HS up here and would like to go to one there as well. I have been researching schools but cant seem to find any that teach trades or early college so to say....wondering if any exist there...any info would be great
Many NC counties have an early college program. In my county entrance is by lottery in early spring of 8th grade year. Other counties may operate differently. I would be surprised however if one could enter such a program at other than the beginning. There may be other options. I would check on the school system web page of the county you are interested in moving

The early college program in New Hanover County is an intensive academic program. Here is its web site: http://www.nhcs.net/isaacbear/
What sort of "trade" courses is your son interested in? To me that implies auto mechanics, HVAC repair, etc. One can enroll in classes like that in the Community Colleges.
He likes anything to do with computers but applied for the construction/design program. It is a public HS that you have to interview for and be accepted into, I like the idea of a school that can help you focus on a career as well as learn all the things that regular high school teaches.

It sounds like a very good program. Since I can't find specifics on the curriculums of the area high schools, I suggest calling them individually to see if they have comparable programs. Laney, Hoggard, and Topsail are all good, general high schools where I would not mind sending my child. South Brunswick HS (in Southport) seems to be the best HS in Brunswick County. But I don't think we have enough of a population to support a specialized technical high school.
The curriculum book for the high schools is extremely impressive. The 4 New Hanover County High Schools are all big, 4A type schools.
I'm betting a county with some smaller schools in it may set up a specialized technical school so kids from the smaller schools have that option. I know that was the case in the county I went to High School in.
