[font=Verdana]Retiring soon and thinking about settling down in Beaufort, NC - since I am an artist and a teacher for over 25 years, I have plans to start an after school art care in the area. How I would go about checking the Beaufort community and surrounding communities about the need of such service? Thank you for any comments coming my way!

Well, we can't mention the other popular social networking sites, but I am sure you can find one for Beaufort where you can ask questions.

Also, I would look for a community with a high percentage of younger children and enough income to pay for after-school childcare. Those statistics are available on City-Data pages for each community. For example, Jacksonville has a high percentage of young people because of the Marine base, but lower median income. Beaufort has an older population with smaller households and higher income: https://www.city-data.com/city/Beaufo...-Carolina.html

To me, Beaufort may have too many retirees who do not need childcare. Morehead City may be better because the median age is younger and the income is close to average. Havelock looks even better, because it is young and more affluent than average: https://www.city-data.com/city/Havelo...-Carolina.html

You might also place a classified ad in one of the online newspaper site or Craiglist to inquire about interest in such a program.
