Hello:

I am also looking into moving to NC and have taken interest in Beaufort. On another thread, someone wrote about a lot of crime in the town. A lot of locals breaking and entering and stealing. Have you heard any of this? I want to make sure I am moving to a safe town.
Thanks!

These figures are averages since the taxes vary from house to house, but the range is accurate.
I know this is an older post, the the information is so incorrect I feel compelled to set the record straight for anyone reading this in the future. For a $300,000 property, annual property taxes would be approximately $1,800 in Morehead City, $2,100 in Beaufort and $3,000 in Wilmington.

rjpluchinoLINEast We found our long term rental through Oak Island Accomdations - they do beach rentals but also have a long term department. Good luck!

For others looking to this post for info about Edenton. Edenton is everything you requested - small, quaint, on the water, friendly, historic, beautiful, near the beach... the list goes on. Google pictures of Edenton NC. What you see is exactly what you get! It's incredible! The Albemarle Sound is one of the largest fresh water bodies in the US and Edenton offers access for boating, fishing, sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, etc. What Edenton lacks in services, it makes up for in charm.
