I have read the questions in posts about River Landing. We have lived here for nine years, and find it to be a wonderful, active community. 90% Of the community has no flooding problems although there two homes built in a flood area, and they are elevated. Living in a flood plain is definitely a buyers choice, not an accident. A very definite advantage about being 35 miles from the coast is that there is no coastal flooding, hurricanes are rare, and the corrosion of metal (exterior door hinges, etc. etc.) is non existent. Some asked about noxious odors from poultry farms, etc. I have smelled that no more than two times (in nine years) and both were early in the morning when the humidity was high. Bottom line, not a problem. River Landing is a beautiful and fun place to live. Lots of activities, two highly rated 18-hole golf courses, mature trees, fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, and a gorgeous clubhouse. At the current time, there are about 20 resales in a community of 400+ houses. Looking at the prices of these resales, I would say that there are some very good buys on beautiful homes for people who don't want to spend a year in a building g process or who want a custom-built quality home for less. People who are interested in living in a golf community should definitely check out this place.
With my company I have been in a few homes in River Landing and they are all beautiful. I can vouch that it is an active community and the residents are some of the nicest I have met in my time in North Carolina. From a building standpoint the homes are well built, some of the older homes need upgraded insulation due to current building codes, and homes built on crawl spaces may need moisture readings every so often. Other than that, all of them are built very soundly.
From a golfers point of view the course is incredible!
About 42 miles (or 50 minutes) to the closest beach in Surf City. We thought about River Landing, but it was just too far out in the country for us.
Thanks, I agree, very nice but if I'm moving south I want to be no more than 10 minutes from the Ocean. Similar to where I live in the Garden State....
