I got offered a job paying seven times more than I was making teaching. But even without the job, we would not have made it much longer. So many folks down there supposedly work, but have a retirement attitude. It just seems EVERYTHING took longer and was much more trouble. You don't notice that on a one week vacation, but living amongst un dependable folks is very trying.
You don't interact with the well todo, but I found I could not rely on hardly anyone to show up on time or do anything as expected, or paid for.
