Hi all:

Want to buy a second car as the lease just expired on ours - we have a very nice new lease but want a second one Need to find a good mechanically sound car, don't care what it looks like, just don't want to spend much. It would be an alternative to a golf cart to go to the beach, store, etc. Any ideas where to start looking? Thanks!

I know a few folks who have bought used cars from Neuwirth. They seem happy with them, although I don't have any personal experience with the dealership. The Encore Best of 2015 nominees for "best place to buy a used car" are Stevenson Honda, Auto Wholesale, and Bruce Cavenaugh. Hopefully that gives you some good places to start! Good luck!

I'd need to know what you are willing to spend before I could take a swing at that. Couple hundred? couple grand? under $20k? up to $250k?

You will be very hard pressed to find a reliable mechanically sound vehicle for around 2k.

it could happen. I've bought reliable cars for a couple hundred before.

For a couple grand I would scour craigslist. If i didn't care about make or model I would look for a car that was unpopular because of it's looks with low miles. A quick search right now shows some early to mid 2000's buicks for cheap. They are probably reasonably reliable for a cheap car, but they don't have an enthusiast following like hondas, jeeps or other cars of the same generation.
