Awful stuff - seems unusual for that area. Great white or bull shark perhaps?

Very sad. I hope they all recover, physically and emotionally.

There was a 12 foot tiger shark that moved in and then out of the Cape Fear River this week...had to be a good sized shark to remove limbs.

It's a little early, but the warmest waters bring them in very close. People would be very surprised how many and how close sharks can be.

This is so sad, I feel for the kids and families. I did hear they were swimming close to a pier I wonder if that was a factor.

Bait in the water could be a factor drawing fish and predators. It is no doubt a very unusual case with two attacks so close together. The concern now is tourism, open beaches, fear of water etc. It all could be a hit on the local economy.

Ill still be down. But I'll be surf fishing more then swimming. I help support the local beer, tackle shop and restaurant economies.

I do some pier fishing.I have seen some 6 footers from the pier in as close as 50 yds. from the beach.I agree with the warmer water opinion as well.It is in the mid 80's
