We recently went to Oak Island for the 4th and we noticed it was extremely windy. I wanted to know if the west side of the island is a little less windy? Are the beaches like Holden Beach and sunset beach a little better? I only have topsail and Atlantic beach for comparison but neither were extremely windy. I expect wind lol and love a breeze but it was too gusty for us. We liked the area and wanted to check it out for a possible move once my daughter is out of HS.
My company has an office in Wilmington and will most likely work from home. We're not looking to live beachfront (not in the budget) but like to be a short driving distance to it. Thanks!

There has been a pretty strong breeze down here for several weeks now, which is nice because it got unseasonably hot early this year. Oak Island is no windier (is that a word? lol )than anywhere else, and one part of Oak Island isn't windier than another...its just the way its been recently. At some point the wind will die down, and it will blow somewhere else...just the nature of the coast. This weekend is forecast to be much less windy.

Wind is sporadic. It keeps flying insects away and helps cool. It has been pretty gusty the past couple of weeks. At other times a nice cool ocean breeze in the evening is the best for sitting in the back yard, grilling, reading, or having a drink.

It's the wind. It's about as predictable as the ocean.

The west side is definitely not any less windy. It can be rather strong at the point.

The wind changes daily all over the east coast. Unless you're on a cape, there's no changing it.
