The Mirasol development was approved by Brunswick County in 2015 for five years. I know the owner has pitched it to several retail operations, but to date no one has show interest. Time is running out on the developer.

Ocean Isle Beach Publix to open doors Wednesday

Doors will open at 7 a.m.
OCEAN ISLE BEACH -- The newest Publix supermarket in the region will open Wednesday, May 2 in Ocean Isle Beach at 1560 Market Place Blvd.
Community leaders and staff will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 a.m. before the store’s doors open to the public at 7 a.m.
Publix supermarkets debuted in Southeastern North Carolina in 2016 with the opening of Publix in Wilmington’s Pine Valley community. Since then, a second location opened in Ogden on Market Street in November.
Additional locations are set to open in Surf City this summer and another in Oak Island later this year.
"Nearly two years after wining planning approval from the Oak Island Town Council, Publix have confirmed plans for a new supermarket on the Brunswick County island.
The Florida-based company has signed a lease for a new supermarket on the southeast corner of East Oak Island Drive and SE 50th Street.
The Publix at Oak Island Market Place is scheduled to open in the summer of 2020, and the roughly 20,000-square-foot store will employ 130, according to a company release."

Work will begin at the Publix site this week (possibly today, depending on the weather) as they take up asphalt on SE 51st Street (the road was previously abandoned by the Town).
State Port Pilot, Jan 15, 2020, reports, "...'Publix is working on the interior upfits now', said Scott Cooke, engineer for builders LJB Inc. of Wilmington. Cooke said he expects the store to be ready in early- to mid-April..."
Publix will open its 28,800 SF store at 5003 E Oak Island Dr, Oak Island, June 3 at 7 AM.
Regular hours, acc to the local customer service office that I contacted today, will be 7 AM - 10 PM. Open one hour later in the evening than most Publix stores.
