What is the status of the proposed Wal-mart for Swansboro from last year?
This is what I saw in the Jacksonville Daily News from October 2015. They have contracted for a study of the traffic patterns after a group of citizens objected to the impact of a Wal-Mart SuperCenter.
More searching and I found this one from February 1, 2016 stating that the reply from NCDOT was not favored by the commissioners in that none of the proposed improvements were to be implemented...
Still no word on when they will break ground though.
Personally, I don't see that Swansboro needs a Super Wal-Mart when there is another one so close in Jacksonville. It sounds like the traffic flow will be a mess without the improvements.

Jacksonville Walmart is a 30 min drive from Swansboro. The proposed location is on a 4 lane Highway, but I have not seen what "improvements" were recommended. A red light I assume.
Walmart Supercenter #7179 will be an instant upgrade for grocery in Swansboro. Supermarkets Food Lion #683, 1409 West Corbett Avenue, Swansboro, North Carolina 28584-8243, and Piggly Wiggly #46, 715 West Corbett Avenue, Swansboro, North Carolina 28584-8453, will have difficulty against a hypermarket.

Thanks CK... glad to hear that this project is still alive.
