My wife mistakenly took my 1991 Harley to a used car shop for inspection. They failed it for a weak horn. Had horn replaced at Harley but was informed I had to take it back to used car lot that failed it for reinspection. Why? I do not want them anywhere near my bike. It showed up with minor damage to Harley that I know was not there before but I have no proof. I want Harley to inspect my bike only!

My suggestion is to call the NC DMV directly and find out straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. My understanding is that, since NC has an electronic system, once the vehicle is entered into a station's computer, it cannot be inspected elsewhere. Perhaps there is a way to "release" it though.
