Hello from Virginia!

I have a friend who is looking for a law enforcement job in the area. He would like to live at least 30 miles outside of the beach area but would work for any police department. Which areas would be good to live in away from the beach? Maybe those areas will have a law enforcement opening. It will be just him so the area doesn't have to have a top notch school system as he doesn't have children.

I'd try indeed.com and a map. In about 10 seconds I found one job in Leyland out side Wilmington. Not doubt there are others.

Virtually every coastal county in NC would meet those requirements. I assume he knows how poorly paid police officers are in NC?

Hello all,

Ditchoc, thank you for the information.

BC1960, thank you as well. I don't know what the pay is for officers in NC but the pay in VA is just as poor.

Also, I wanted to mention I have looked at a map; however, came to this site for personal suggestions from locals on what areas are good places to live in outside of being directly at the beach.

Anywhere in Brunswick County is a good choice. Also look at Craven, Onslow, Jones, and Pender Counties.

Can you provide more criteria for what constitutes a "good" place to live for your friend. Good is very subjective, and means many different things to different people.
