Hi all,
I have spent some time in Wilmington and the nearby towns and have decided to relocate to Wilmington. I spent a few days there looking at houses but couldn't really get a feel for the neighborhoods. I am newly single, starting over and am looking for a friendly, family oriented neighborhood with a HOA. I have friends in Echo Farms but have decided against moving there with all of the uncertainty about the golf course.

Can anyone recommend neighborhoods to look into? I would prefer something newer but an established neighborhood is fine.

Many thanks for any help!!

It would be helpful to make your budget publicly known so others can offer suggestions.

In any event, the neighborhoods in the area generally bounded by Oleander Drive on the north, S. College Road on the west, down to Piner Road on the south are nice.

We're visiting friends in Wilmington soon. I know they're going to try to persuade us to move down from NY, but my spouse is totally put off by the crime statistics. Neighborhood Scout has Wilmington listed at 5, with 100 being safest. Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed

What's up with crime stats in Wilmington?

Crime in Wilmington = lots of drunk college students + lots of drunk tourists + a gang problem in certain neighborhoods. If you exercise certain basic precautions and avoid things like buying drugs from gangbangers, you will likely not have any issues with crime in Wilmington.

Lol...thank you for the link and the heads-up. I won't be getting into fights or buying drugs from gangbangers
