Has anyone ever heard of this rescue place? I guess they are located in Snead's Ferry? I am from Massachusetts and am thinking about buying a puppy from them. Just wondering if anyone has any information on them.

Thank you for your help.

Kimberly

Nope, haven't heard of them....strange name though. You should adopt from your local shelter. Lots of cute doggies that need homes there

There was a story on the channel 3 news last night about the proliferation of puppy mills in the area. So it's possible that this breeder is just another puppy mill.

And I agree with Oyster07 about adopting a shelter animal. It's just not right to encourage people to breed dogs when millions get destroyed every year.

Apparently, Mustard Sandwich is an adoption agency for mixed-breed puppies.

I am in Sneads Ferry and I do know of them. I know two people who have bought dogs there.

They are NOT a "rescue". To my knowledge, this is a for-profit business, They take in unplanned litters of puppies and socialize them, vaccinate them and then sell them.

My first rec is to always try to adopt from a shelter or a legitimate 503c non-profit where you are truely saving a life. Sneads Ferry, while it has grown alot in the last few years, is in a relatively rural area. We have a serious problem with abandoned hunting dogs, our shelter is full with animals dropped off by naive 20-somethings in the military who buy dogs and have no clue what the committment is. Our surrounding counties are even worse off than we are and most county owned shelters in this part of the state are considered high-kill.

If you would like for me to ask my good friend whose dog is from them any specific questions, DM me. (I also know someone who worked for them breifly a few years ago.)

ETA: Agree with pp that the dogs are just from random places and that they are NOT always trained before being adopted out. Both of my friends had to potty train, crate train and car train their dogs themselves.

ETA: Just looked at their website. Yeah. As of 2 years ago, it was just a husband and wife. They make it sound like a big organization. And their transportation method is insane, They don't crate dogs? They have a pen built in the back? Not a single rescue organization in the country would allow dogs to be transported that way. In the event of even a low speed accident, those little puppies become hurling projectiles at one another.

I saw their site, and they have some cute dogs. But when you add up their delivery fee, and the price of the dog, it is pretty expensive for a mixed breed. If you think of them as a flakey business, use your best judgement whether your could deal with them.

If you want a mixed breed, I'd suggest going through a shelter. Mustard Sandwich says their puppies are pre-trained, but I looked at their facebook, and the most recent comment from someone says their puppy has terrible behavioral issues. Not good for the money.

Sorry but I would never pay that much for a mixed breed when shelters are full of them. you can also check craigslist for puppies. A mixed breed shouldn't cost more that $100.

Wow, looking at their website I would bet anything they are a mixed breed puppy mill. Real rescues have more detail about where the puppies come from. Please, look on petfinder.com for a puppy. I feel awful for these puppies and the breeder dogs that may be at this mustardsandwich place.
