Hi! My husband was just offered a job at New Hanover Medical Center and we are considering a move to Wilmington. I am also an RN and will be working part-time. Ideally, we'd like to purchase property within the next year or so. I've done a fair bit of research and see that some schools are higher rated than others. We have an 11 month old and a second on the way, so our priority is going to be living within a good school district. We'd also be willing to live outside the city, with a maximum commute of about 35 minutes from the medical center. I think our housing budget will be about $250k.

Any suggestions for neighborhoods or schools to look into?

Thanks.

Look at the neighborhoods south of Oleander Drive, East of S. College Road and north of Mohican Trail, in the Parsley and Holly Tree Elementary school zones:

I will say this as a local, schools aren't all based on numbers. A lot of people LOVE New Hanover High School and it's education. You can get a great education anywhere if your kids are your priority and you parent them. I've seen elementary schools drop from 10s to 4s . And go from 4s to 7s within 2 years. Also the lines are going to be redone so there's going to be alot of redistricting in the coming years.
