After multiple visits to Brunswick County, we have now sold our house and are planning on moving to one of the plantations on 11/1. We will rent for awhile because we have read disquieting articles about coal ash, GENX, PFAS, etc in the water supply. It's no so much water hardness but rather water safety that concerns us. Any thoughts or insights anyone can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Thoughts or insights on what exactly? Its indisputable that Genex is on the water. The ramifications of that are very much in dispute, however.
Its not enough of an issue to make me move from Brunswick County, if thats what you're asking. You can have a reverse osmosis filter installed if its an issue for you.
Most of our neighbors in our plantation have installed a reverse osmosis system under their sink. It is not difficult to install if you have some plumbing skills. The unit is not expensive and local plumbers will install it.
We have always drank bottle water and Costco has a vendor that will deliver water to your home. I have lived in several different location around the US and the water in Brunswick County doesn't pass my taste test. JMHO.
Thanks for the info. Any issue with coal ash in the water supply?
No. The water intake point is many miles north of Wilmington, which is where the Sutton coal ash pond is located.
