I was looking for a place in New Bern, until I found out the flood insurance was $2700 a year!

The cost of flood insurance doesn't have anything to do with the city and state, it has to do with the elevation and flood zone designation. Its a federal program. A house with a equal possibility of flooding in Nebraska will have the same cost of flood insurance as one in Florida or one in North Carolina.

It has to do with a structures elevation inside the floodplain more than anything.

And it is very specific to the property. We are on a little rise, out of flood zone. Two or three houses down the street, and from there down to the river, are in the zone and have higher rates.

It is impossible to generalize Flood Insurance cost at the city or town level.

Good luck.
