To live successfully on the coast, one needs to be prepared for natural disasters, including tornadoes and the more frequent hurricanes. One should have backup power supplies. Potential transplants should think about storm shutters and shatterproof glass. They should plan for supplies of batteries, medications and non-perishable foods, etc.

And I know BLACKS who live there, as well as other communities with "plantation" in their name, so what is the big deal that makes you make a big deal about it?

Are you so INSECURE in your own beliefs that you have to make a big deal about it?

Is EVERYTHING to you "racist"?

You are the one in post#30 that said Ocean Ridge Plantation, is not called Plantation, and I just pointed out that it is called plantation, liked many other communities. Seems like you are the INSECURE one and you are the one who brought it up in the first place.

Goldenage, I'm sure the people who came here to "escape the snow" probably have a better idea on how to survive a hurricane, blizzard, and/or losing power during a deep freeze. The paradise they seek are warmer weather and a better political climate. Anywho, no one could possibly prepare for a tornado such as this. You just play the odds and hope one doesn't directly hit your house. We all know the risks.

My wife and I were out there last week looking for a home and ended up on one of the streets that was devastated, you'd think the real estate would mention it had been through a tornado before you go there to look at the home... ... we spoke with a very nice woman in the neighborhood for about a half hour about what had happened..... it was pretty awful to see....
