I was curious about Wilmington, NC. Is it a relatively safe place to live? I am a single, white female considering an eventual relocation from California to Wilmington. Do you recommend it as a safe place for a single woman to live? If so, what areas of the city do you recommend living in? Thanks.
Almost anywhere except the projects is safe. If you live in an apartment, Mayfair would be like living in a walkable, sanitized downtown. If you can buy a house, look for suburban areas east of College Road.
I wouldn't worry too much about that area. It can get a little rough once you head toward parts of Market St. on the lower end and into parts downtown gentrified areas. You'll have the Police Station nearby so that's a positive. Personally, I would stay anywhere east of S/N College/Carolina Beach Rd. and south of Oleander, or north of Eastwood and east of Market St. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you'd like me to connect you with a Real Estate Agent.
You'll need to be prepared for hurricanes. They don't happen that often but are becoming more common with climate change. Wilmington to me is a fun place to visit.
