New Jersey dude hit the nail on the head. Locals do complain the loudest. They have the right to complain. Teachers, first responders, etc. have seen and incredible cost of living down here which has forced many to move due to the quickly increasing property taxes and high inflation in some of the grocery stores. Yes, the cost of living is going through the roof.
The building is not being met by an increase of infrastructure. Zoning and re-zoning has caused the quality of living to go downhill. All those truths have caused long-time residents to complain. Rightly so.

If possible, please expand on some of your notes. What re-zining and where? COL does not necessarily affect QOL in a negative, as long as there's return on investment. But the expansion/development issues where the taxpayer is left with the bill after all is said and done is everywhere! Question is, the Stadium and it's supposed retail infrastructure surrounding it... Is it needed? Can it be sustained by the increased population? Does the investment by the municipality get dividends in return in the form of income and sales taxes?
It's funny because in some of the threads here I've read about how it's not Greta to have to drive 15-20mins to shop. And this development seems to want to out that shopping in the middle of all of Leland's highest pop density. Will it oversaturate the shopping then?
I agree that it should be up to the voters too, if it ever gets past committee for approval, that those that might be stuck with the bill make the decision, not just the Politicians. Again, it's not always a negative as the jobs and tax revenue can soften that for residents too. It just all depends if it is a variable and sustainable plan. Right now, the population influx in NC does not seem to be abating any time soon as inventory is still terrible sparce.
Just thoughts, thank you for your consideration.
