It has recently been reported that Brunswick County was the only area in North Carolina to see a year-over-year increase in home sales in August, which experts attribute in large part to population growth and lower home prices.
There were 199 sales made through Brunswick County's Multiple Listing Service in August, a 31 percent increase from August 2007, according to the N.C. Association of Realtors. It marked the seventh straight month that the county has seen sales rise over last year's levels while the state has posted declines.
The MLS doesn't track all the homes sold, but it's one way to gauge the health of the market.
