We are a family with small children possibly relocating to Wilmington soon and need to know which of these three areas are best for a family with small children. Would like to be close to shopping, parks, good schools, etc...Any feedback would be great. Thanks

out of the three i prefer south wilmington.
that's where i live , might have something to do with it.

we are 20 minutes to wrightsville beach ,mayfaire shopping center
15 minutes to pleasure island
15 minutes downtown.

if you start along oleander/college road south towards carolina beach , you will find
many, many family neighborhoods.

there are also some off of river road.

you will be close to good public schools and the few private
schools as well.

I don't have a good answer for you about the best areas for a family (those are all good) - but for the purpose of clarification - south of Wilmington would be everything from Monkey Junction (College/Carolina Beach Rd Intersection) all the way south to Carolina Beach. Holly Tree Road would be right square in the middle of Wilmington.

The Monkey Junction area has a lot of family-friendly neighborhoods, right off College Road. Don't be scared off by "heavy College Road traffic" - people don't honk (unless they're about to have an accident!), so all you hear are cars going by. You can get everywhere easily from there, in several different ways and the schools are good.
