We're going to be camping down around Oregon Inlet next week and was wondering there is anywhere to rent dune buggies? Ideally we'd like to ride on the dunes but don't know if that's even allowed. Can anyone shed some light or point us in the right direction. Thanks!

You can forget about riding the dunes on the OBX.There is a place in Rodanthe,I believe it's called Island Cruisers that rents them, but riding on the dunes is strictly prohibited.Environmentalists are trying to close many of the National Park beaches to driving. As long as you drive the speed limit, you'll be fine, but if you're looking to race up and down the beaches at high speeds,I suggest you look elsewhere.

Cool, that's what I was looking for. We're taking the Jeep to do some cruising but didn't know if they had buggies for jumping like they do out in the deserts. Thanks obxfisherman... *thumbs up*

Yeh, if you have a 4wd vehicle, don't do anything stupid and you'll be ok. Wrecker services just WAIT for inexperienced people to get stuck. Few hundred dollars later, you'll be unstuck. But like said before, go slow, stay AWAY from the dunes and watch out for off-limit areas (turtles, bird hatching etc)
