We need someone to take care of our cat when we go on vacation. At home he is an indoor/outdoor cat. He would go crazy being kept in a cage. On the other hand we don't feel real comfortable leaving him home alone for two weeks. Does anyone know of a good place for cat care?
Thanks for your help!

We have left our cats at home for two weeks several times....we have a neighbor who comes in and feeds them, makes sure they have fresh water, and takes care of the litter boxes...I do the same for her cats when they are gone...it works out well, the cats stay inside in their familiar surroundings and I think are much more comfortable than being in a strange place. The key is to have someone you trust to do this for you and someone who likes kitties and will give them a pat on the head while you are away.

Hi! Thanks for answering so fast. The problem is that our cat is likely to go crazy being left indoors for two weeks. He would go crazy trying to break out. He is an escape artist and has performed amazing screen ripping and jumping feats. I think he could get past a neighbor who came in to feed him. We have left him in the garage before with the door opened enough so he could get in, might have to do that again, exploring alternatives.

Ours are indoor/outdoor cats also, but they seem to know when we are leaving that they need to be in....they don't try to get out at all. I don't leave windows open though or give them access to the screen porch. I give the gal who watches them a garage door opener to come in and out, and I have always had her shut the garage door before she opens the door to the house before coming in....that way, just in case one ran out, they would be in the garage and easier to get in....but they never have done that..they just seem to know...I guess they are very smart cats, haha! Good luck with your kitty! He sounds very athletic!

Thanks! He is VERY athletic and not too tame. We had him in the apartment in Brooklyn 4th floor. He ripped out the screen, went down the fire escape, jumped the last floor to the ground, and luckily we found him. Yours sound smart, our guy is feisty and won't let strangers touch him. He is a difficult cat!

We had the same problem...so we just took them to the Chinese Food place and made a few bucks.

I always used Kristin Rowe of Furever Friends to pet-sit in my home when I went away. She also works at the Four Oaks Animal Hospital. Her phone is: 910-616-6452 or 910-686-5648. I really like her.

She charged me $10/visit, but I don't know what her rates are now. (We were one-time neighbors, so she might have given me a better rate.)
