Fortune telling teacups are bringing big prices that are becoming bigger by the day. Some are still found in the usual piles of debris in thrift stores and similar, however, as most people still don't know what they are. So be sure that you keep a sharp eye out. I had one of these (well I bought it for my wife) about 15 or 20 years ago. The cat knocked it off the shelf it was on - gone.
Prices for these types of things ebb and flow with their popularity. I once collected Flow Blue tea cups/plates and pots (or rather bought them for my wife). They got really pricey after a while, and then suddenly they were really affordable, then the prices picked back up some then fell, etc.
My favorite example of this is the Jefferson mystery clock from the 1950s. They jump around between about $15 and over $300.
That is charming. I can see why folks would like them.
